Below is a more detailed description of birth support I offer but this can be adjusted and adapted to meet your individual needs. I also offer a free, no obligation initial meeting. This give us a chance to get to know each other a little more, helping you to decide if I am the right doula for you so please get in touch if you would like to chat more about what I can offer you.
I offer a free, no obligation meeting where we can meet face to face (most likely over a cuppa!) to get to know each other a little more. During this initial meeting we'll probably discuss your birth preferences, a little background information, your expectations of a doula and any other questions you might have. The most important thing is to make sure we are the right fit for each other then afterwards you can let me know if you wish to move things forward.
Before your birth we will have at least two antenatal sessions, most likely in your own home and usually lasting around two hours each. During these sessions we will explore and discuss a range of topics that allow me and your birth partner (where applicable) to best support you leading up to and during your birth and to help you feel confident and empowered. Ideally anyone who you want to be present at your birth (partner, mother, other children) would be at one or more of these sessions so that we can all get to know each other and form a great team, giving you the very best support!
Things we discuss may include (but is by no means limited to):
From the moment you book me, I will be available throughout your pregnancy, birth and up to 6 weeks postnatally by text, email or phone. If you have any questions or concerns just drop me a message and I'll do my best to support you in any way I can.
I have a variety of pregnancy & birth related resources that you are welcome to use while I am your doula. I am also in the process of getting a birth pool that will be available to hire (free of charge) for home births.
I will be on call for you from 38 to 42 weeks. This means that during this time, I won't stray too far from home, will have childcare provisions in place and will be available to support you during your labour and birth whatever the day or time!
Once you are in labour, I will join you whenever you feel you need me and stay with you until after your baby is born. I can support you at home before heading to the hospital or birth centre or in the case of a home birth, be there to support you before the midwives arrive. From the moment I join you in labour, I will be there as a continuous emotional, physical and practical support, working in partnership with your midwives and birth partner to help you achieve a positive birth experience. After your baby is born, I will stay until you are all settled and you're ready for me to leave.
I will visit you at your home a couple of days after the birth and again around 10 days after birth to see how you're getting on. We might talk over your birth experience, chat about how you are feeling or how baby is doing. I can also give some breastfeeding support if applicable.
